Consumer price index in Shenzhen increases 4.9% in March

The consumer price index in Shenzhen rose 4.9 percent in March, a fall of 0.3 percent compared with the previous month, indicating a downward trend in inflation in the coming months, a Shenzhen urban investigation team of the National Statistics Bureau said yesterday.   The figure is 0.5 percent lower than the national average.   The city’s CPI for the first quarter increased by 5.0 percent, compared with the same period last year, the report said.   Food, medical care and housing expenses were the major factors driving up the CPI.   Food
