South Korean dance musical “Sachoom” will be staged at Shenzhen Poly Theater at the end of the month.
"Sachoom" — an abbreviation for “dance when you are in love” in Korean — is a nonverbal dance musical that can be appreciated by all generations from all countries. It features a simple plot full of dance genres including hip-hop, jazz, contemporary dance and break dancing, and tells a story of love and friendship between three close friends.
Since its first performance in October 2004, there have been more than 1,900 performances of the dance musical, and it is still very popular. In 2007, all of the performances in Japan were completely sold-out, and “Sachoom” became the most internationally performed musical production in a short period of time. “Sachoom” is also the first South Korean production to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
