Attendees at last year’s Earth Hour event at Lianhua Hill Park.
This year’s Earth Hour, an annual worldwide environmental protection activity, will be held from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. March 23. Local residents are invited to bring their guitars and candles to Lianhua Hill Park in Futian District to attend a party on the grass.
Attendees can get together at 7:30 p.m. at the south gate of the park on Hongli Road.
Earth Hour is a worldwide event organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and held towards the end of March annually, encouraging households and businesses to turn off their nonessential lights for one hour to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change. The event, conceived by WWF, first took place in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all nonessential lights. Following Sydney’s lead, many other cities around the world adopted the event in 2008.

Wow… That is indeed a cool idea. We all know that an hour
without electricity these days can be so boring and events like
these at those hours would actually make it possible to
organize earth hour effectively and efficiently.
I really hope this music event has done
it's best in providing the most lovable
tracks. Music has such power to do any
miracles. I really love to attend this
event but was busy to do
